With our economy still in ruin, many elderly workers (50+) are fearful that they will never be able to find a job again. More and more of them realize that even with them being highly educated and qualified that their resumes and being ignored my companies in favor for the younger crowd.
Some non-profit companies, such as WorkSource, and providing seminars for this age of workers to "age proof" their resumes and to encourage them to continue with their job hunt and to also not forget to try and stay relevent with more technology classes.

Looking forward in the future, and as technology is replacing remedial tasks in the workplace, innovation is becoming the way for businesses to grow. As jobs are being replaced now with younger and conscious of people these days, it is understandable that the older job holders are going to lose their positions at work. Ideally it not seem like the best step for those who have "proven" that they can withstand the demands of their jobs, but with businesses struggling to find what is desired of the newer and younger generation, it is logical - unfortunately.
